King’s Faith is a wonderful story of God’s redemption power no matter our circumstances. The movie is about a teenage boy, by the name of Brendan King, that had been in and out of foster homes, arrested nine times, and put in a juvenile penitentiary. Upon Brendan’s release from the juvenile penitentiary, he was blessed to be taken into foster care by a wonderful family that helps love him and show him who Jesus is. During the movie we watch Brendan struggle with the temptation to fall into his sinful past and not walk the path God has destined him to walk. The beautiful thing about this movie is that both Brendan and the family who take him in are able to use grief from their past to see God’s love in their lives.
Because the movie is rated PG-13, we only watched it with our oldest child (8th grade daughter) while her two younger brothers were sleeping. It was a good movie to reinforce the biblical values we are teaching her at home through everyday living and through our lifestyle of homeschooling. It gave our daughter some hard questions to think about and see how easy it is to make a bad decision and how quickly consequences can come. On the flip side, it gave her an understanding of the hope that we have in Jesus. It was a great conversation starter for our young tween daughter.
