This month for our “getting to know us better” post, I asked the writing team to answer this question: What devotional are you working through right now? I always get inspired and encouraged when other people share what they are reading in addition to reading the Bible. I pray that this post is a blessing for someone who is looking to find a new devotional!
Our Favorite Devotionals
Renee: I’m reading “Daily Wisdom for Women” — the themes are very applicable as the Lord seems to meet me right where I’m at each day through them, even though I’m not reading it on the right calendar day (LOL!). I also LOVE Sarah Young’s devotionals! What I like about “Jesus Lives” is that it is written in Sarah’s familiar style from “Jesus Calling” – as if Jesus is speaking directly to you, personalizing the message of the daily scripture selection. Because it is undated, you can start and finish at your pace without feeling like you need to “keep up” with the calendar.
Carlie: I am immersed in Rick Renner’s Sparkling Gems From The Greek: 365 Greek Word Studies For Every Day Of The Year To Sharpen Your Understanding Of God’s Word. This has become one of my go-to devotionals over the last 7 years. I am a lover of exhaustive research so I really enjoy learning about the Greek words. This is my 3rd time working through this devotional and I am enjoying it every bit as I did the first time!
Wendy: I’m working through Anything by Jennie Allen. Jennie’s thoughts and points about what it means to say ‘anything’ to God, are helping me to realize again just how tightly I hold onto some things. I am thankful for her gentle but truth-filled reminders about what giving Him anything and everything is.
Jenna: I am working through Made to Crave. God cares about what I put in my mouth. I love how Lysa TerKeurst takes us through God’s word to show us how our relationship with food could be getting in the way of our relationship with the Creator of food. We all desire to be filled with something– but filling our tummies with yummy treats does not compare to filling our souls with God’s best.
Rebekah: Real Moms…Real Jesus: Meet the Friend Who Understands by Jill Savage. This book takes a look at Who Jesus is, and relates it to our everyday lives as moms. Jill helps us understand that Jesus is very real and desires to be part of our lives, no matter how messy life may be.
Megan: Confident Heart Devotional, A: 60 Days to Stop Doubting Yourself (A Confident Heart) by Renee Swope beautiful Truth-filled devotional that finds us right where we are to replace self-doubt, fear and insecurity with God’s Love, acceptance and confidence to be the women God created us to be. A Confident Heart is one of those life-changing, heart-healing sorts of books that reminds us of just how much we need Jesus.
Teri Lynne: Whispers of Hope by Beth Moore. I often struggle with focus during my prayer time. This book offers an encouraging method of organizing to help deepen prayer life. I am about halfway through and really loving it!
We hope you are able to find some new devotional material through what we’ve shared above! What devotional are you working through right now? We’d love to hear about it!
