You, dear mom, will find yourself many times in seasons of uncertainty. What will you do and what will you say to those times in your life when you feel the pressure cooker inevitably pushing your steam to the max?
In Christ alone, there is hope for the weary- and we do get weary. In fact, I’m reminded of a Bible passage that tells us:
And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up. Galatians 6:9.
Another version of the Bible says, “Do not be weary in well-doing.”
Think about all the things you do well. Think of all the things you do to help others:
- reaching out to your friends and neighbors
- assisting your spouse
- raising your children
- giving the needy a helping hand
How many dinners have you cooked in a lifetime? How many loads of laundry have you cleaned? How many times have you supportively wiped a child’s tears away and kissed her lovingly on the forehead? How many scraped knees and bruised elbows have you bandaged? How many stressed moments have you encountered with a newly-driving teen who isn’t sure he knows what a curfew means?
Dear mom, you are doing well and God wishes that you will continue in your well-doing.
How about those moments when we feel discouraged- when it seems no one notices all the seemingly unimportant details we tend to when no one else is looking?
What about the long hours awake at night praying for your husband’s work environment or a raise on his job?
And let’s not forget the practical every-day tasks we have to roll up our sleeves and tend to several times a day: scrubbing dishes, feeding the baby, wiping down counters, planning for and cooking countless meals, sweeping and mopping, and doing it all over again.
Does anybody really and truly appreciate us?
Dear beautiful mom, you are worthy. You are appreciated. Our Heavenly Father notices every. little. single. thing. you. do.
And He is pleased with you.
This day and beyond, please stop to take a moment to realize that you are not forgotten.
Our Wonderful, Gracious Father lends His loving hands to help you with your everyday tasks. He lends His listening ear, and He pours His kind wisdom into your life through His Word.
Take a moment to bask in His love for you, and remember to keep pushing forward.
And please, whatever you do, don’t grow weary in doing good. Your blessings are in your faithfulness to continue along the road less traveled, and reap the fruit of your reward.
